Sprague Wrestling wins 6th straight league title

Sprague mat success begins in wrestling room

Daniel McClung has spent much of his life in the wrestling room at Sprague High School.

McClung was one of five Sprague athletes to win their weight divisions in the Greater Valley Conference district wrestling championships Saturday at McKay, where the Olympians won a sixth consecutive team title.

No. 5-ranked Sprague will be sending 16 wrestlers in 12 weight divisions to state.

Harris was an all-state wrestler at Sprague under Hadden, and he has continued the program’s excellence. Last year, the Oympians were second in the state tournament, matching the school’s previous best finish in 2011.

“It’s special,” Harris said. “Kary Hadden started a pretty cool thing at Sprague, and it’s an honor to be part of that now with a new group of kids.”
