NCAA Athletes – Check requirements & deadlines
Get a PIN number so you can sign your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online www.fafsa.ed.gov
Look for scholarships right away. Those with early deadlines often have few applicants!
Obtain an unofficial transcript, from the registrar, to help you fill out applications
Research schools in guidebooks and on the web.
- Contact colleges/schools for applications; check which tests are required.

OUS Schools and Chemeketa visit Sprague. Oct. 17 9:30am. Be sure to attend.
Submit CSS (College Scholarship Service) Profile application to schools requiring the Profile
Review your graduation and college requirements with your counselor
Plan visits to colleges, schedule interviews, stay overnight & visit classes. Work on rough draft essays for college or scholarships. Send in early decision/early action applications.

SAT - November 5
- Register at least one month ahead of time
Meet with college representatives who visit Sprague – beginning in Oct.
Gather financial aid information. Print a worksheet from FAFSA web site so you’re ready to submit by January 1 www.fafsa.ed.gov
Do both Financial Aid sorts on CIS. You’ll find many scholarships to apply for.
Request recommendation letters from teachers and counselors. Request 3 weeks in advance of the date needed
OSU & UO early notification deadline is Nov 1. Mail Academy & ROTC applications. California public universities app deadline is Nov 30. Stanford is Dec. 15
National College Fair Portland Nov 6-7
All-City College Fair Salem Nov 7

Attend Financial Aid Night Monday, Dec 5 at 7PM Sprague Library
Observe application and scholarship deadlines
Keep your grades up! Colleges look at first semester AND year-end grades
Check admission deadlines for Oregon and other colleges.
Apply to at least 3 schools

Complete FAFSA online ASAP after January 1. Use estimates for income if needed. You can revise later.
Watch those application deadlines, apply to at least 3 schools
Send first semester official transcript to colleges. Request in the Business Office.
Request housing applications from colleges.

College acceptance letters may begin arriving!
Send in CSS Profile to the schools that require it
Keep checking the Scholarship Board and deadlines.
Submit applications to community colleges—take placement tests

Watch for Student Aid Report to arrive, giving you the amount of student aid for which you are eligible

Send acceptance letter & rejection letters to colleges. Include deposit if required
Some scholarships have late deadlines – keep checking!
Send thank you to teachers, counselor, or anyone who helped you through the process
