To save files from YouTube to show later
- Go to YouTube and select the video you want to save.
- Copy the URL (go to the address bar – highlight – right click – copy)
- Open a new Tab – and go to keepVid.com.
- Paste the URL from YouTube in the Download line of KeepVid.
- Click on the Download button on the right side of the bar.
- In the Download video section – find the version you want (mp4, flv, etc)
- Right click on the “Download” link
- Select “Save Link As..”
- Select a location and change the file name (if you want)
- Make sure you keep the file extension (i.e. .mp4, .flv, etc.)
- You can know put this video on a flash drive to bring to school.
Download & Install a video player to show flv files
- Go to www.videolan.org/vlc/
- Under Download VLC – pick the operating system you need (i.e. Windows).
- You will see Latest Packages
- For Windows – you will probably want to use “Windows self-extracting package”.
- Click on the download button in the section below.
- Select “Save File”
- Wait for it to finish downloading.
- Either from the “Download” Window or from the location the file saved – double click on the file
- Select the language you want
- Follow on screen directions from there.
Watching and/or showing the video
- After you have downloaded the video and installed the video player –
- Either
- Double click on the video you want to watch OR
- Open VLC media player
- Select Media
- Select Open File
- Navigate to the video you want to watch
