Getting Started
Most students walking in to Computer Skills 1 have already had access and experience on the Internet. One of the goals of this course is to further and extend that knowledge so the the student can use the Internet as a problem solving tool and not just a vehicle for entertainment. Today we will discuss the follow items and try to make sure students fill in any gaps they may have in their understanding:
- Web pages and html code
- Web browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer v5, v5.5, v6, v7 Netscape, Opera, AOL, and many many more)
- URL (Web addresses)
- Search Engines (Google, Yahoo, AskJeeves, Live Search, Dogpile, and many, many more)
Over time we will use the Internet to research many topics and we will work on skills that will help make finding what you want on the Inernet faster and easier.
