We revisit the Favorite Vacation Activity, but bring it to life with PowerPoint
Goals:
- Learn to use PowerPoint in an efficient manner
- Learn to create a professional looking PPT
- Proper use of PPT when creating a speech
Introduction:
There are many ways to use PowerPoint when presenting information. Two most common:
- stands alone and the user interacts with it without any input from you
- Use it to enhance a speech or presentation
For this project we will assume #2. We won't actually be giving presentations, but your PPT will be evaluated as if we were.
Procedure:
Build all the slides and create PPT using "outline view" (demo will be done in class)
7 - 10 Required slides:
Intro
- Use a big graphic
- title… where did you go?
- By:___ pd ____
Trip Details

Grading
Text
When you are presenting a speech, the text should be in short, bulleted sentences. The intent is for you to have the major idea and then expand on it, not read word for word. Try to keep each bullet or numbered item from wrapping to the next line! It is a good guide for how much text to use.
Formatting
It is easy to abuse formatting, color and animation in your PPT. You WILL do the following:
- Use a theme to unify the presentation
- Use a singe background (color/image) on every slide
- Use consistent font (size-style-color) from slide to slide
- Limit the animation so it will enhance the presentation, not make it the focal point
- When asked, you will be able to explain your plan as you vary any formatting or animation in your project
