Department consists of two functional units working closely to maintain the integrity and security of the Patient´s health information.

Medical Records

Medical Records is responsible for the maintenance of the integrity of our Electronic Medical Record. The staff routinely distributes documentation and correspondence relating to a patient´s record to the providers: including lab and ancillary reports, consultant reports, requests for prescription renewals and a variety of other types of paperwork. Medical Records sends out records for all patients who have been referred outside the clinic to specialists or other ancillary providers. They also send out information on patients scheduled for surgeries. They scan images into the computer chart and handle the processing of deceased patient charts. All requests for records releases including Life Insurance applications are processed through this area. The clinic courier is part of the Medical Records Dept. She picks up and delivers documentation to other medical offices, the hospital and the post office.

Referrals

The Referral and Preauthorization Department provides a central location responsible for facilitating the referral and scheduling of patients for specialist consultations, diagnostic studies and therapy visits. As required, the Referrals staff obtains insurance prior authorizations for DME (durable medical equipment), oxygen, and disposable medical supplies or specific highly technical ancillary testing. They interact on a regular basis with patients, insurance companies and with staff employed by other provider offices.
